UNIX and me

My first need at the moment is to get enough exposure on the Unix working environment....
I started off with the basic commands like the ls, ls -lut, rm, mv, date, cp, uniq, sort, whoami, who, grep, mkdir,
editor(ed, gedit, vi), ps, ">"file, ">>"filename, "<","<<"files, pr, cat, head, tail, echo,cd, pwd, su,chmod,chown, du ,
pipes, processes etc...

Some of the facts that really interested me are:
echo * would work the same way as ls command would.
One could tailor the Terminal appearance etc..by editing the ".bashrc" file.
Type:

$ gedit .bashrc

You would find a file which has quite a lot of information....By typing in the following one can get the later said outputs:

PS1 = 'Welcome:'
date
echo "Welcome NARAYANAN to the TERMINAL"

and save the file. Exit the current terminal and restart a new terminal..you'll find the following changes in the terminal environment:

Welcome: Dec 13 18:45:35 EST 2007
Welcome NARAYANAN to the TERMINAL
Welcome:

ok...now I am quite free to do a bit of blogging.

Last one month, I was packed with less sleep, tension, and restlessness (reason:my 3rd semester university exams ). 4th December I had my OOPs lab exam...this day would be counted as one of my tensed moments in life....I managed to get the output atlast. The question was to enter the details of n employees into a class using array of pointers, increment their basic pay if they had more than 10 years of experience and to display the details.
On 12th Dec, I had my electronics circuits lab exam...phew....what a day!!! I had to design a circuit that would help me to get the output as needed in the question paper ... Quite a simple one theoretically...I just needed a negative clipping circuit at -2.4V and then a full wave rectification to get the desired output. It looked so simple and after setting up the elegant circuit the day seemed quite wonderful..I was about to get the output without much difficulty....alas!!! alternate half cycles of the wave seemed to have disappeared....the examiner said practically
that circuit wouldn't give me or anyone the required output...and got a partial output.
I messed up the viva also after I was bombarded with questions related to the specifications regarding the diodes etc....
Forget the entire incidents of the day.....I was finally having a few days off without the need of any studies ...the door to the 4th semester waiting for me... it had been just 1 year and 2 months since I had joined for my Btech courses. I had lot of plans for my vacation........

Periphrastic Gobbledegook

Something that I wrote in my free periods in class....

INTERIOR DESIGN

The humans are an evolution on the earth, which is a part of this ceaseless universe. What has left me awestruck is the mind boggling architecture of human body, their ability to think, react , feel emotional...According to me, the existence of god (the ultimate invincible power) is responsible for this.

Just consider the the strange evolution of humans on the earth. The metamorphosis involved in the development of an entire human body is so intricate and sophisticated that it can be created only by a strong force, something that is unexplainable and invincible.

The Earth is thought to be the only abode of life. How is it possible? Maybe the humans are not that far-sighted.
Nevertheless, the achievements that humans have made since their evolution is quite incredible. Be it in fields of science, technology arts, space mission, missiles, and communication, there has been burgeoning advancements from time to time.

What I would like to focus is on the title "The Interior Design". This could sound as the art of designing the inside portion of a house. But definitely I intend to reveal that is a 'pun' and it is the other meaning that I felt I wanted to talk about.

My idea of "Interior Design" is the ability to design the body, mind and intellect of a human.
The success of a person is a function of the balance a person has between his mind and intellect.

I feel "Mind" is the key to a lot of unanswered questions. To be clear, there are mainly 2 types of mind. 1) Conscious Mind 2) Sub-conscious Mind.
The thinking process is done in the mind. It is so turbulent and vicious that controlling it is very cumbersome. But with sincere efforts (about which will be mentioned later), one can bring one's mind under his/her control. Once it is achieved, immense satisfaction and extreme bliss is experienced. Our confidence mounts to very high level that nothing in front of us seems impossible; for confidence is the Voltage that drives us to situations we have only dreamt about in our life. The key to everything is our Mind. When polished and nurtured properly, it can even give you the power of "Clairvoyance" or the ability of foresightedness.

I feel that those people who have never tasted success in their life or has never achieved anything, can work wonders in their life if they have realized the impediments / boulders that remain stagnant in their thought process and remove them away through various mind exercises and "Meditation".

I have been often bowled over by the question: "Where in the human body is the mind?"
When you close your eyes , you see the darkness and this darkness can be turned into a flamboyant scenery somewhere else in the world, then to a bizarre situation you may never have even thought of doing or being in. That is the versatility of the human mind.

Life now is a mixture of joy and tensions...
With the 3rd semester exams rolling, there is indeed no time for blogging...
Time is just running fast and there is no time to stop and take a breath.
But I would like to atleast post in some of the things happening around me ...

My life at MEC started on October 16th 2006..and it has bin just one year and we have almost completed 3 semesters...2nd year lost in the clouds of laziness and lethargy...I really doubt if I have made any commendable step towards being an effective engineer.

Appa bought me an N73 ME ....It costed around 15100/-We bought it from the Mobile Stores.

Maths, LDN and DMS exams over so far..... though piece o cake papers....its in ma blood to mess up anything that come my way...

I get 92% for my internals...though a far cry from the toppers(97%).
50 (OOPS), 47 (EDC), 47 (DMs), 47(Maths), 43(PPL), 42(LDN) .

Another of my scribblings

BasketBall
My passion is Basket Ball
I wait for my friends to call
In the grounds, my team toil and moil
amidst our opponents, trying to foil.
We try to fake
and take the ball through the Zone.
They try to steal
and block the ball from seeing the basket.
Time speeds up in the clock
and whistle blows at a foul.
One by One,
Two goes in.
It was a foul inside the "D".
Half Quarter has come
and it is time for a small tea.
New plans in mind
Defence mode made man to man
by our opponents.
Aggression escalates
It is a 2-point game to them.
Time in the clock read forty seconds
Speed is the name of the game.
Ball in our hands
We pass and pass
Till we find an open man to score
Shot clock shows five seconds left.
Tension mounts and
I find the ball in my hands
Somebody shouts something
and I feel hot all over
Without any thought
A three pointer....
PLUM.
Hurray! Hurray!
I am lifted off the floor
and Cries all over
singing in chorus
We Won! We Won!

My Recent Poem

I am not very much into writing poems....But I do love to write if something really fascinates me. I havent been particular about any rhyming, but in the future, I 'll try to make it a part of my poem writing.

Nature (Part 1)
The sun has risen above the horizon
Causing the flowers to bloom in this lovely occasion
Their pleasant aroma invades the morning hours
Spreading message to bees and butterflies.
Beautiful and flambouyant their wings are
Blending among the humming bees, not far.
This sight gives me an aire of delight,
happiness and tranquility that I cannot describe ..
This is just one aspect of nature
That god has bestowed upon us.
Redundant destruction reveals the immature
mindset of the human beings
who are solely to lose.
